Art Museums on Pinterest: I’d Pin That!

Rachel Witte 22 May 2021 min Read

We all may again be stuck inside, and physical art museums may be again closed, but it’s the 21st century and thankfully we have more ways than one to view many of the world’s art museums. Better yet, they have separated their artworks and inspiration(s) into neat categories on Pinterest, a site for “pinning” interesting photos and DIY projects in streamlined categories known as boards. With that being said, let’s check out some art museums on Pinterest!

Pinterest allows anyone another avenue through which to showcase their individual aesthetic. There are hundreds of collections on the site; it would take all day, maybe even more, to dive into what the site offers. Portraits, paintings, sculptures… name it, it’s probably there, alongside further inspired images from the artwork in physical galleries. Here are several to get you started, beginning with one of my own favorites!

My personal favorite exhibit in their permanent collection is of paintings from the Dutch Golden Age masters. You can view them on Pinterest or, furthermore, the museum’s website without even leaving the comfort of your couch.

One of the Tate’s boards stands out the most in the world’s current state: a DIY inspiration board. How many of us have already tried some new things at home? Art? Cooking? Meditation? Well, take a look at this board for some further artistic inspiration. From weaving, to drawing, to making a little robot… there is plenty to view.

The National Gallery of Art in Washington DC showcases their collection(s) in both the west and east buildings as well as the sculpture garden. One of my favorite exhibitions in the museum is of Degas sculptures.
